The view from my desk

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

At this particular moment, I have a pretty cool job.  I am on tour with a show called “Kiki and Herb: Alive from Broadway!”  Kiki is played by Justin Bond, and Herb played by Kenny Mellman.  Two of the nicest guys you could hope to work with, and the show is a blast to watch every night.  I sit backstage in the wings, just off stage right, and call the show from there.  The guys are in profile for the majority of the show (well, Kenny is actually showing me his back the entire show, but whatever).

They do covers of songs ranging from Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” to Alphaville’s “Forever Young.”  I use the term cover lightly, as they really do twist each song into its own unique creation.

Anyway, we’re in San Francisco through July 29, with a possible extension to August 13.  From there, nothing until March, when we’ll play in Washington, D.C.  To hear Kiki and Herb’s take on “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” check out http://www.myspace.com/kikiherb.

And here’s a sample of the view from my desk:
