Lonely offices.

This is a poem by Robert Hayden

“Those Winter Sundays”

Sundays too my father got up early
and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold,
then with cracked hands that ached
from labor in the weekday made

banked fires blaze. No one ever thanked him.
I’d wake and hear the cold splintering, breaking.
when the rooms were warm, he’d call,
and slowly I would rise and dress,
fearing the chronic angers of that house,

Speaking indifferently to him,
who had driven out the cold
and polished my good shoes as well.
What did I know, what did I know
of love’s austere and lonely offices?

Bright stars.

Here’s a YouTube video (can you tell I’m feeling web-lazy these days??) that I totally love.  Thanks to my friend Belinda for the tip, and go Sox!

My great friend Helen McElwain shot this trailer last weekend.  With enough votes, the mock-trialer could make it as a DVD extra on George Romero’s “Diary of the Dead,” so if you’re the MySpace type, give it a thumbs-up!

I’ve arrived!

My boss, C. Jay Cox, directed an indie romantic comedy, called “Kiss the Bride.”  Its premiere is this April, and the trailer was recently posted on-line.  While I’m unable to embed the movie on the site, if you click this link, you’ll be able to check it out.

Most importantly, towards the end, watch very closely, because I’M IN IT!!  Yes, you read that correctly, my fat ass is sitting at the counter in the diner behind Amber Benson (of Buffy fame) and Dean McDermott (of Tori & Dean: Inn Love fame).  You’ve gotta watch very carefully, blink and you’ll miss it.

Look out, Hollywood, here I come, err, am.  Here I am.  There, briefly.
