I’ve arrived!

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

My boss, C. Jay Cox, directed an indie romantic comedy, called “Kiss the Bride.”  Its premiere is this April, and the trailer was recently posted on-line.  While I’m unable to embed the movie on the site, if you click this link, you’ll be able to check it out.

Most importantly, towards the end, watch very closely, because I’M IN IT!!  Yes, you read that correctly, my fat ass is sitting at the counter in the diner behind Amber Benson (of Buffy fame) and Dean McDermott (of Tori & Dean: Inn Love fame).  You’ve gotta watch very carefully, blink and you’ll miss it.

Look out, Hollywood, here I come, err, am.  Here I am.  There, briefly.

Pretty funny woman.

My friend Jan Davidson recently did some stand-up at the Improv in Hollywood, part of their Wednesday night Pretty Funny Women show.  The whole night was pretty great, actually, so check it out if you’re in Hollywood on a Wednesday evening.

I shot a video of Jan’s set.  Here it is for your viewing pleasure.

If you do the whole MySpace thing, click here for Jan’s page.

Unintentionally Funny Observation?

This car was parked across the street from my house here in Hollywood.  From the front, it looks like your average police car.  Black body, white roof, and search lights near the rear-view mirrors.

But from behind, it’s a different story.

UFO RESPONSE TEAM

The driver of the car was nice enough to let me snap a picture of him with his car.  When I asked him what the story was, he asked me if I wanted “to join the team.”  When I told him that I don’t necessarily disbelieve, he gave me a few stickers.

Here’s a picture of my pup Tessie curled up with one of the stickers (seeing as I sometimes accuse her of being an alien, it seemed only appropriate).

I did a little hunting around, but couldn’t find much at all (including how to join the aforementioned team).  There’s this guy in San Francisco who had a UFO Response Team siting a week or so ago.  And “snoopygirl” who snapped a photo on January 16.

As for the sticker, somebody used those exact words in a response to a Rage Against the Machine concert bootleg on YouTubeThis guy was given the sticker by a woman at a music festival in San Francisco (interesting, where Rage Against the Machine played).  Here’s somebody who snapped a picture of the sticker on Halloween in 2005, and this person thinks the sticker is “professional-looking.”

And just a note about the sticker.  If “we are being manipulated,” presumably somebody is manipulating us, right?  Isn’t manipulating a population with fear the bread-and-butter of a terrorist?  Perhaps the sticker’s creator was being ironic?

Very Hollywood.
